What is naming?
By Jose Santiago Mateos, founder of AsesMarket · Updated October 2026
Naming (or brand name creation) is the process of creating the name of a brand, a business or a product. A good name is easy to remember and pronounce, fits what you sell and is available as a domain, on social media and for trademark registration. It usually comes with a slogan that sums up the proposition in one line. Then visual identity gives it shape.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about naming, no small print.
01How much does naming a brand cost?
It depends on whether it's a business, a product or several names. After the first call we give you a fixed price that includes the proposals, the checks, the tagline and the report.
02How long does it take?
About two weeks from the briefing to delivery. Your total time commitment is about three hours.
03What makes a name good?
Easy to say and remember, a good fit for what you sell, not confused with other businesses, and available as a domain, on social media and as a trademark.
04Do you register the trademark for me?
We run a preliminary search to rule out obvious conflicts, but it doesn't replace a registration report. You can file the application with the OEPM yourself or through an industrial property agent; we explain the steps.
05What if I don't like any of the names?
There are two rounds of proposals. With what we learn from the first, the second usually hits the mark.
06Does it work for a new product or service?
Yes. The process is the same for a business, a product or a new line.
07Is the slogan included?
Yes. We propose two or three options and finalise one with the chosen name. Then we carry it into the visual identity if you need it.
08Do you check it works in Catalan?
Yes. We check that it sounds good and has no double meanings in Spanish or Catalan.
09What if I want to change the name of an existing business?
It can be done, but the transition needs care so you don't lose customers. We handle it as part of a rebranding.
10What do I need to provide?
About three hours in total: the briefing, the session to choose the name and the handover.
Shall we find a name for your business?
Tell us what you're going to open and in 30 minutes we'll tell you how we'd approach it.
